Tell me why I should not...
2 weeks ago my DD a 2000 Audi S4 was part of a big pile up on the FW, I'm fine, but the car was totaled.
I've been looking for a DD Porsche, of course the 993 is up there on the list, but most are out of my price range.
Locally, I found a nice very clean 1995 993, 104kmi, records, no current service needs, looks more like a 50kmi car! My hopes are to get it for $20k. It's Blue on grey, hardly any options.
My other hope fulls are a 2001 BMW M3, & a 2000 BMW M5 both in my price range.
Any problems with driving a 993 daily? This way I will not rack up the miles on the C4S & will still get my 993 fix! I also only have to keep one set of consumables like filters & go-fast parts, so it can be the "hand me down" car from the C4S.

For me, a DD must have the ability to carry more than 2 adults...so that relegates my 993 to the for "fun" category. Get what you want and fills the bill.

You know, the color looks to be the same as yours!
The Audi was a awesome DD, it had 400hp & 430ft-lbs of torque, nav, heated seats, fast, smooth & comfortable! It was all sorted out & needed NOTHING!
Yea, I just need to make sure it will work & not end up killing me with maintaince.

I agree, think my 95 is great for a daily commute. Had some teething pains the first year:
* alignment issue - ate tires for breakfast
* blew the PS rack
* alternator and bearing went
That was the big stuff - but since I've sorted that out it's really been great and not too expensive.

I have always had Audis as DDs up until I got a company car.
Stick with the Audi.

I'm also continuing to look for a third 993 (the elusive cab) as a daily car. I do enjoy using the C4S now, but it's a bit over the top, aerokit and all, for running around town and being a backup delivery vehicle.

My 97 cab has been the daily driver for me for the past 6 years - put over 65k miles on it, snow tires in the winter and it just keeps going. I've driven it from MD to NM and back and has never failed me. It is a great car - drive it and enjoy it as much as you can.

If you liked your 400hp Audi S4 as a daily driver you will love an E39 M5.
It blows the doors off the old S4 in terms of handling, back seat room, trunk size and luxury. I'd suggest getting one newer than the 2000 as they changed the piston ring design as well as added angel eyes and the suede headliner as a standard option in 01 or 02. Also you can find low mileage 2003 M5s in the $30k range if you look hard enough and don't need a CPO warranty.
