Default PerfectPower Strut Brace

I was notified by email today that PerfectPower is going to make a run of their shocktower braces. After contacting Sol back in september it is good to hear they will finally be available. Andreas is the only rennlister that I am aware of who has one of these installed in his 993. I have a hunch you could find his old thread for pics and comments. If you remember the issue of too short shock tower studs came up. I am going to contact Sol to see how this is being addressed.
Neil
Sol's email:

Hi 964 enthusiasts!
We may do a run of the Perfect Power 964 shocktower braces very shortly. I am confirming the actual number now. That will determine the exact, final price. I expect it to be around $325.00 U.S. Please let me know if you are an A, B, or C, below:

A. I've gotta have one of these now. They're awesome.
B. I'm interested in purchasing a shocktower brace, but not til later this spring or summer?
C. I've already purchased a shocktower brace. Don't ever email, call, or solicit me again!

Sol

P.S. In the past, we've black-anodized these. Do you have another color preference?
Don't forget about our 964 lowering collars too. Pictures of both are attached.

FWIW, I just shopped around for a strut brace and researched the gamut (Fabspeed, RS, rennline, brey krause, etc). I ended up buying one from Steve Wong at 911chips.com $205. No affiliation. It rocks the casbah.

How does the KLA compare? I really like the fact that it fits under the carpet. Stealthy, ya know, like a ninja...

My answer is interested but not at $350. Maybe $250 if we can get a group buy going.

dcdude68,

I would be cautious about the KLA bar. A buddy has one in his 993 and the mounting plates are very thick and as a result the studs are not long enough. There is not enough thread engagement. He has not had an issue thus far, but I do know for a fact that it is not correct. As an aircraft mechanic by trade I can tell you that inspection will never buy off on a fastener that does not have enough threads showing(1-2 1/2 optimal). The Steve Wong bar looks awesome, it appears to be a replica of the factory bar.

What about using longer bolts?

That would be a maybe since it appears that the studs are permanently attached to the strut tower. I suppose you could remove them and use bolts, but it would be a pain in the butt to have to reach under and get a socket in that tight area to tighten it all up. By all means though give it a go if you like that bar. In its defense it looks like a nice piece, it just needed a little more engineering for a faultless install.

I have a strut brace, that I was told by the PO is a factory brace. Does anyone know if there is a part number, and where it would be?
It looks similar to the brace pictured above, but without the holes in the bracket pieces.
Thanks

I'm in too.

That said, I would like a better price if we could arrange a certain minimum number of orders....

Please PM me.... Closing date of Feb 15th.
