Default 993 race/street tt

As I was browsing the classifieds I came upon this:
What the hell is it and why is it only 45k?

It's been waiting for you

No seriously, this is what everybody tries to tell you that cars already track prepped are cheaper and are out there waiting to be bought.

Good luck.

Wow, what a deal. Look like the car Glen converted into a tt long time ago.

This is Glen Gatlin's old car that was bought by Tim aka tar6day. The car seems like it's prepped to the hilt and would be a potent DE car. The problem is that it's really only good for DE's since the TT motor in the C4S body bumps it to GT, as well as the short gearbox. I'm not sure how it would fare with PCA's new GT classifications. I think it's been on the market for a while.

IF it's a good car. I'm sure others can comment directly. But still, pretty much anything has a fair price. If it were local I'd sure give it a hard lookover.

It has been on the market on and off for over a year. Been listed on EBay an number of times...doesn't seem to break the $40K mark. It is a sweet car though!!!! If I was in the market for a kickass DE car, I would take a close look at it.

Now you know why to not build a car (that car was probably over $100k to build).

I think Mark is bang on why it doesn't sell for more...no place to race it. I considered buying it and putting in a NA 3.8 at one point (before the cup). I would definitely think it would be a better route than building your own car.

Juha,
You can probably pick that car up for low 40s which would satisfy your budget - and be waaaaaay better than anything you could build < $70k.

I don't want to burst anyone's DE bubble, but even though you do not plan on racing wheel to wheel anytime soon, keep in mind that you very well may want to do Time Trials along with DE's. TT's are more rewarding as they give you a timed benchmark against others in your same class. And if that's the route you go, you'll definitely want a car that fits easily into a class and more importantly, is competitive within that class.

That car looks like it's been done right. Turbos by Kevin (UMW), a large part of the 993TT board, and tuning from Todd (Protomotive), who seems to be well respected over there. While I don't know much about racing, that ad says that the car is set up for NASA GTS racing, so assuming that's correct it does fit into some class. The car is a steal.
