Default Mileage determination with scan tool

Can the actual mileage of a '97 6 speed with an on board computer be determined with a scan tool ar any other method, if the odometer reading in the speedomter is in question?
Thanks. Bill Z

I am not sure about the mileage but I you can the get hours on the engine. If you take the odometer reading you can get the average speed of the car, which will indicate if the car was city vs highway driven.

You won't be able to get much of anything other than basic OBD-II with a generic piece of OBD-II sw. From my explorations with a Porsche System Tester I'm 99% certain you can't get mileage and 98% certain you can't get engine hours. The 993-era systems just aren't that sophisticated.

Yes, you can get hours off a 993...I did this on my 993 and other have done it for theirs. You need the Porsche specific scanner and its stored in the manufacturer specific codes.

Cheers,

mike
