Default Rapid Prototype Cylinder Head

Isnt technology wonderful? Complete detail, even water passages!

This is from a machine used for rapid prototyping parts of any detail. There are settings of much higher level of detail as well.

Chris,
Very neat! Is that foam, or a specific plastic?

Chris, did you scan a head or start with a 3d model? I can get this done on parts if people have interesting ideas. Shoot me an email. I can scan and then have the parts made. As Chris said, it is possible to get much better parts using Stereolithography to higher setting than the head above. It is actually really cool! It Prints with a plastic (or even a metal compound) with a 3d printer for lack of a better term.

At one point, we owned a stereolyth machine that was incredible in the detail but was very very costly to run. The resin cost $1700.00 per gallon!

This is from a cookie dough machine, as their nicknamed because the media is very much like cookie dough.

This cylinder head is about an inch and a half long. Kind of a small demo piece one of our vendors sent us. I'll post pics of a few other small samples we have had made.

WOW, I love this stuff (yes, I am a geek). Can you do a picture of the machine making the piece?

Its like out of Star Trek....if you put in edible materials you can make yourself any food you like!! :-)

Cheers,

Mike

Chris - Any openings at your place of employment? You're having way too much fun, and I'm jealous!
