993 GT2 Steering Knuckle on AWD cars?
#16
The Porsche Motor Sport ones, available through dealers, are the ones that have gone for good, unless people have old stock on the shelf, which is unlikely, they will all be the RS type ones ie; not monoball

The dealers only have the RS parts available to them, Porsche Motorsports only items are marked >R< in parts books

Can someone explain the benefits of the various tie rod upgrades?
I know the OE standard inside tie rod end has a partial non-metallic ball socket.
Is it designed to isolate the rack from road vibration?
Upon close examination the standard inside tie rod end only seems to cushions movement in the negative toe-in direction as the elastic part of the socket seems to be on only one side.
Since the socket is hard steel on the toe-out side does it really change the responsiveness of the steering or just gives greater road surface feedback to the driver?

964 & 964RS are steel, 993 and 993RS are aluminum
top are standard 964 steel w/ axial brake mounts, bottom are 993RS/Cup/RSR/GT2
here is a 964 RS w/ radial brake mounts instead of the standard axial mounts
Here is a 993RS on left(short arm) and stock 993(long arm) on right
the 964 and 993 w/ stock wheel carriers use a bent outer tierod(top) RS use a straight outer, all except 993 Cup/RSR/GT2evo use a rubber connector on the inner seen here on both the stock and RS inner, RS is stiffer
Here is a stock 993 outer/inner w/ rubber inner, on bottom is a RS outer w/ mono-ball inner these were only used on 993 Cup/993RSR/993GT2evo
the outer tie rod must be matched to the wheel carrier, all 964 and standard 993 use the bent outer, 993RS uses the straight one

OK, in Euroland our Porsche dealers get Porsche Motorsport parts for us, anyhow, they cant get the GT2 tierods anymore
I've just sourced a pair in the US from Patrick MS but these are all 'old new' stock.
Get em while you can. (and double check that the part you are getting is indeed the correct part and not the Porsche equivalent, ask me how i know that too)
