Has anyone used Lowering Collars on their 993? On my 964 I used loweing collars and kept the
stock factory shocks and springs. The ride quality is pretty much the same as it was before the collars,
but the ride is over an inch lower. I only needed collars on the front actually. The rear shocks had enough threading on the shock to dial down the inch needed. Maybe this idea applies to the 993.

Joe,

Before you dismiss the PSS-9's internet ride, you really need to find someone in the area who has these shocks and who's willing to change the settings from 9 to 8 to 7, etc. for you. Everyone's tolerance for ride comfort is different. Go back and read my old posts on the PSS-9's; only on the hardest settings did I find them to be very, very firm. I thought they rode quite well on the 6 or 7 settings and not the coal cart experience that many here have had with these dampers.

YAMV (your *** may vary); I , apparently, have a numb ***, which I suppose is better than a dumb ***.

Hey Joe, I work at 26th and colorado. I have a PSS-9 setup I think pretty similar to yours w/Euro TT sway bars, RS motor mounts, 18" MY02 wheels, and a KLA front strut bar. PM me and I'll drive it to work next week (gives me a good excuse) and maybe we can take it for a spin.

Has anyone tried Ohlins on the 993? It's up there with Moton, but a little less $$.

Anyway, I have the M030 stock stuff, & just over 3 weeks ago had the PPi done, & everything was OK, I had the car aligned yesterday, & we saw the rear shock starting to leak. The shocks are red.

I don't really want to go Bilstein HD, I have had them in my M3, & the low speed compression is way to stiff, & the low speed rebound is way to fast. Basically they are super harsh on small bumps, & on really bad roads ( we have a lot of them) the car would skip & come off the ground, not fun around any kind of "aggressive" corners. It also helped to me to bend the rims.

So what does the factory red stock shock go for? The Bilstien HD's seam to be around $1300 & PSS9's are $2300. What else in this price range will give good low speed & good high speed dampening?

I do most of my own wrenching, so swapping out a shock every 5 years is OK with me. I used to change spring rates & dampening to suite the very different local tracks with my old M3.

Sunset can get factory ROW Turbo shocks for:
$93.09 rears
$310.48 fronts
from Germany. I am considering this option.
Swapping out 993 shocks requires an alignment though

What are the part #s? That's not bad, but I guess they will last about 30-40kmi? My shop does great alignments, & has the special rear tools.

Yea, I looked at them, but there $2800. IMHO, that's just to much for this class of shock. They are not easily adjusted.

Can anyone help identify this shock and spring setup offered on Craiglist?

Porsche 911 993 Bilstein Front & Rear Coilovers. Picked this package up at a swap meet, so I do not know much about it or it's history. The guy that sold it said it was removed a Porsche 911 933 (95-98 C2/C4 Coupe, Targa, & Cabrio) with low miles on it, but you better check the pictures & numbers out to see if it matches your application. Front Bilstein Coilovers are numbered 2898 VE-36105-8MO & 9MO. Rear Bilstein Coilovers are numbered 4699 BE5 2353 TO. Eibach springs are numbered 49/99 0700.225.0600(red), 31/98 225/225/250(black), and the blue springs are numbered 7A400.
Possible Cup or RS?

Ted:

Read off the numbers on the struts & shocks and I can tell you what they are.
