I guess the question would be: what's low maintenance about a 993? Especially as opposed to a 3.0SC or Carrera for instance. My 2.7, 3.0's and Carrera were dirt-cheap to maintain compared to the 993. The 993 is a thrill though. Sort of redneck raw with a tux on.

21K is an incredible price. You gotta' take someone with you that 'knows' the cars though.

Well plenty of people live in San Francisco that could come with me. And I am sure there are plenty of porsche mechanics up there. The car has 133K miles with "valve guides" done at 110K with a new clutch. Now whether "valve guides" means top end rebuild or not is debatable.

Lets start with no valve adjustments, no constant CIS tweaking, no ignition timing adjustments, shorter oil change intervals, no WUR problems, no shifter adjustments, no clutch adjustments, no front wheel bearing repacking or adjustments, no head stud replacements, no replacing torn-from-the-tub sway bar mounts -- you get the picture.

The 993, I feel, is one of the least maintenance-hungry, air cooled 911's ever built.

I'd pass on this one, unless you want a track car. paint and body $$$ will kill you.

but it would make a good track car...

Well my brother has decided to be an angel to me. He called saying "why are you selling your 911", and I explained that I wanted a 993. FYI we have both been Porsche freaks since kids and he is yet to own a Porsche even though he could afford a 997 Turbo. Living in San Francisco at isn't so great with driving a manual shift = no no. Anyways he asked me why I wouldnt just get a civic after selling my 911 and I said "once you drive a porsche, youll never want to drive anything else, its like super crack". He giggled at me and said "ok, because I love you, I'll give you 10K when I get my bonus in February". This made me very happy I wish I could buy traffic's car seeing as how it is one of the best deals. Decent low miles, upgrades, and fresh top end.....and I love the color

Do we have any soap opera producers on the board? This is getting to be a great script. Add other pimply adolescents and cute girls in checkered skirts and you've got your "SantaBarbara whateverzipcode" hit on your hands.

Sheesh.

Sorry did you not care to hear about how I got the opportunity to buy a nicer 993? I wont post things like that anymore then. Apologies.
