Reviving an old thread as I yanked mine out to inspect it (referring to the Oil Filler Pipe/Bellows). It was in a better state than I expected given the years, but had a couple of small tears around the coiling. Reading through Adrian Streather's "993 bible" - he suggests simply yanking it and never using it again for risk of potential damage (parts disintegrating and falling off)! I see it listed on eBay for $41 and $35 through Amazon, so not a big ticket item, but thoughts - yank or keep?

Here is a generic picture of it.

yank, and keep for posterity or future owner.

After reading a previous post and seeing the pieces of a disintegrated oil filler neck, I took mine out.
A small wide mouth funnel rests in the same bag that has an extra qt of oil.
The risk/benefit ratio did not align...at least not in my head.

Yeah, with you on the line of thinking. I just got a new Porsche 1-qt oil pouch that comes with several paper filters, so can use those as needed.

Plus, let's not forget there are weight savings benefits from yanking it out LOL

If you do decide to buy one it is cheaper elsewhere eg $9.70 at Sonnen. Part # 993 207 361 04

I replaced mine so I didn't need a funnel if topping up on road trips. The one in the 710 bag looks like single use to me.

And you guys should stop yanking your pipes, or you're all gonna go blind!

I use one of these. They work really well and can be used for multiple purposes. If one were so inclined to have a funnel for on the go fills and didnt want the "bellows", it doesnt take up much frunk volume.

That's what I need for oil changes - draining the tank makes huge mess on the rockers.

I used it both for draining the oil from the small filter without removing anything besides the heat exchanger boots and also used it to fill (after cleaning). I like them.

Mine vanished many years ago. I think it disintegrated into the oil system.

There is a reason why most do not replace the one removed from their car long ago.
