Default Split Rear Seat Bottom

Has anyone dealt with this? Mine split at the seam the other day, and I don't know if you can get them recovered or should I buy a second hand seat? Are they just glued down to the carpet?

If anyone has a gray one they are looking to get rid of, let me know.

They lower portions are glued down. You may be better off sourcing a replacement piece. Which gray do you have?

Not sure what the specific color is called, but here's a pic.

Called the local auto upholstery shop first, but they weren't to optimistic about it. I just found a used one at a breaker yard in LA, so I'm going that direction.

Any decent upholstery shop will pull off the seat cover, take some slack material and re-stitch that in about 15 minutes. It'd be as good as new. Geez, anyone can fix that piece. I'd be surprised if they charged you more than $20.

The dismantler in LA......does their name start with "LA"? I'd bet they sell the replacement for x times more than you'd pay to repair.

It does and I'm sure they did. However, if it solves the problem, I can deal with it. We aren't talking about break the bank type of money here.

I'd rather repair my original first, before buying one out of a wreck.

You can get a good match for the material color in vinyl or leather on eBay. Strike a stitch line across it to match what you have. Wrap it and glew it right over your existing pad. Seems to me it is a kitchen table DIY project. I would plan to do both seats at the same time for a perfect match between the two seats.
Or consider body color matching seat upholstery, yah, yah, that's the ticket!
