Default BEWARE: 1996 TARGA ON EBAY

last month when my friend was interested in purchasing a targa and i stumbled upon this one on ebay...i asked the seller for his phone number, called and had a lengthy conversation about his car.

the targa top does not work and it is stuck in the open position.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...QQcmdZViewItem

i knew from the weak photos and his attitude that he was a shi__y owner and a schmuck...i asked him why he hadn't fixed it...his answer was that he fixed it last year and it broke again and he doesn't want to deal with it

then i asked why he was not disclosing this in his description??...he responded by saying the car should be driven on nice days and he only uses it when the weather is nice...

i responded by offering him $18K because the cost of fixing the roof may get close to $10K if it needs replacement...

when he did not accept my offer i suggested he be honest in his description and revise it because he is being deceiptful

someone won the car at $26K 2 weeks ago and must have run like hell when he saw it.

now i see the car listed again with the same deceptive decription.

Yea - 8-12k to fix that roof - and the person does not state this in the eBay ad?

No worries - that is easily caught when someone comes to pick it up!

I just sent him a note asking if he had any pictures with the roof closed.

From the pics, It looks as if he has rigged the sun shade to close with the top open

I saw this car a couple of weeks ago, what a horrible description and images.

If the top goes unfixed, what else is wrong

this guy thinks he craps diamonds...unbelievable how cocky he is about the car...his decription on the phone of problem items was so vague.

What terrible pics! The ones with the car parked in a shadow and then from the side obscured by trees
are my faves. What a nitwit. Unfortunately jerks like this guy make us all look bad.

You've flipped nearly 50 Porsches in the past 15 years, huh? That makes you a de facto used car dealer in my book. I think it's pretty gutsy for any car flipper to preach morals.

hey "hddude"...
though your comment makes you out to be uneducated and ignorant, i honestly don't think all harley owners are following your footsteps...

big difference between a car "flipper" and an honest car enthusiast that appreciates the porsche cars ...the cars i have owned and sold in the past have been for fun and i have always been honest about any car i have sold.

have another beer and get some sleep....

You start a thread to scare off buyers for a guy's car that you made an offer on, which was kind of odd since supposedly you were researching the car for a friend. Why would you as an "honest enthusiast" try to poison this ad when you were willing to buy the car?? Sounds to me like you're an opportunist car flipper who got PO'd when you couldn't steal the guy's car -- to flip -- and now want to make sure no one else buys it. Oh, I forgot, you are just warning people that the roof won't close in case they couldn't see it for themselves.
