Becker 220 question
I searched and couldn't find the answer to this one:
Any problems going from the 210 driving the Nokia factory Premium Sound package amp to a 220? I mean will it just plug and play with the factory system-amp?
(Of course minus the cage and doing the display-faceplate swap with Becker. They still do this right?)

No problem, it will use the same plugs. I just made the change that you are planning and I think the overall sound is improved. You need to be patient with the installation because the fit of the 220 is tight.

The swap is plug and play. The 220 is a tight fit, but it will go in. I had some some problems in that the antenna tended to pull out when I pushed the 220 in, so I advise leaving the radio on an am station when you push it in, thus if the antenna starts to come out, you will know it.

Well Chuck, from Calabasas (AKA the Gateway to Agoura Hills) is quite a trek, but I may take you up on that, if only to see your car and listen to the Supercups. Mark, I looked at your great DIY, I was just checking to see if there were any Nokia Amplifier issues, and it seems there aren't (thanks everyone) so Ill get to lookin' for a 220. (I want the iPod connection)

Contact Becker of North America, 650 East Crescent Ave, Upper Saddle River, New Jersey 07458 Phone: 201-961-1399 Fax: 201-327-2084, email info@harmanbecker.us; Web page http://www.beckerautosound.com/. They sell refurbished units. They use to go for $250; but that was awhile back and their prices may have gone up. I believe that this includes the manual and removal keys. A warranty is also included. When you order it ask them to swap the faceplate for a modified one so you can read it in the 993; it use to be $50 but as I recall recent posting have it up to $100. It may be worth a little extra to get one from them. I use to buy and sell them and got stung a few times.

Amfab,
I had the 220 in my 93, nice unit. This time around I went with the Traffic Pro, looks the same, works the same, sounds the same, but no faceplate issues and has built in navigation which works surprisingly well.
Becker is great to deal with on either unit for parts and service.

Sorry to bring up a dead thread, does any one know where to get a traffic pro? I can't find them for sale anywhere! I would really like to have Nav & a iPod adapter in the 993.

Here's the alternative that I installed:
http://mobile.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027893
It's awesome. Still looking for a reverse signal, but the rest was an easy harness to make.
Can be had for $500 for a refurb on ebay. iPod and bluetooth adapters will tack on about $175 moue.

Both my other cars have Nav, once you get used it, you just can't live with out it!

Traffic Pro has no map, just directions. It's a bit blah and old world.
I black matte painted the "JVC" off of the face plate and it doesn't stick out as non-stock all that much.
But different strokes...

Becker sells the traffic pro complete with antenna and connectors for $599. I just ordered one to get the navigation feature. Now I need to figure out what to do with my CDR-220.
