Default Heavy Rain causes water to enter footbox

When travelling in heavy rain I sometimes feel water drops hitting my feet. The drivers side floor mat will get wet when car is sitting overnight in garage after driving in a heavy rain and not from my shoes.

Any thoughts?

...maybe put the convertible top up:^))

What kind of car do you have - windshield seal leak???

Steve Weiner has some pretty good "help' guidelines to follow when posting help issues...

I'm pretty new to my 993, so not sure if this applies, but I had the same issue with my 1997 Audi A8. Two possible causes: 1) clogged water drains in cowling under windshield. Water drains from windshield into cowling and then through water drains that empty out under the car (usually over the wheel well). If you park outside, leaves and other debris can clog up these drains, resulting in water level rising above cabin air intake. Water enters A/c system and drains out at lowest point in system (typically foot vents). 2) A/c evaporator drains. Typically, a/c system will have drains to release built up condensation. If debris builds up due to problem #1 above, the evaporator drains can clog as well resulting in slow run-off and water exiting from next low-point in system (typically foot vents). Not sure if this is your problem, but a place to start

I have had this problem in very heavy rain. But I have had soggy carpet issues in every Porsche I have ever owned, so when I had it happen a little in the 993 I felt right at home.
Being in So.Cal. I dont think about it too much, but I look forward to responses on this thread so I can fix it
In a heavy downpour in west Texas was really the only time I noticed it, although I havent had the car that long. It dripped right into my girlfriends powerbook that was leaning up against the center console on the passenger's side

Thanks guys I will check for clogged areas that I can find. I am in Florida so we are in our afternoon thunderstorm season and we get some flash flood like downpours.

Check that the two HVAC drain hoses under the car are not clogged.

Was your windshield ever replaced? Sounds similar to an issue I had with my previous 993. Read my posts here: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...indshield+leak

The windshield was replaced by dealer 5 yrs ago. I have not had the water problem until recently. The water seems to come from under dash on drivers side near the gas pedal,

I do not have a water intrusion problem in my 95 993. You should not either. Going out on a limb here - but I would postulate that Porsche did not engineer the 993 to leak when it rains or otherwise. There's a reason for the leak and you should get it fixed soon before you get other issues: mildew, electrical problems, smells, etc.

My water leak sprung two years after a new windshield was installed and for no reason other than the installer did a horrid job and obviously didn't know what he was doing. It's worth looking at as a possible cause. Yours might be leaking or draining out of a different place than mine.
