While I have seen the posted photos of the prototype 16-cylinder unit, I think this car is most likely a flat-12. If you want to hear what it sounds like at full throttle at redline, watch the movie "Le Mans" with the stereo turned up
IIRC, the NA 917's produced a bit under 600 hp. The turbocharged 917-30 that dominated Can-Am racing and set a new closed course speed record at Talladega produced 1100 hp and allegedy flashed up to around 1500 hp. UFB.
