I've never seen a light metallic purple...Amaranth Violet is very purple but not metallic IIRC, Viola Metallic is a dark almost black metallic purple and Vesuvious is a metallic dark grey with purple highlights...

p.s. are your wheels on yet?!?!

David - The wheels are still here with me in Orlando. I have at least cleaned and Rejexed them. I cannot find anyone who has boxes that I can use to ship them home!
I did pick up some new OEM large crest center caps.

Anyone want some faded, but perfectly good, no cracks, chips, etc, standard crest center caps? Low cost to a Rennlist Member...

Scott - If Viggo's car (the special edition with the silver mirrors, etc) is Vesuvio, the car I looked at was at least half as dark. Maybe Viggo can chime in as to what that color looks like in bright sunlight, but IIRC, the car I looked at was really light purple in the sun.
Russ, although my car varies significantly when observed in direct sunlight (or bright light indoors as in the pictures on page 1) as opposed to when observed on a cloudy day. When not exposed to light, the vesuvius looks almost Steel gray, with a slight tint of purple. This is far from bright purple so it must be another colour Scott is referring to.

I attached some verious pics to illustrate this.

Viggo - WOW! Great looking car and great images.

Black993 - I've hijacked this thread too much. I tried a PM to you re: the crests.

Well, I guess I could post to this. Here's another Vesuvio Gray Metallic (mine) taken in bright sunlight somewhere in the Angeles National Forest.

I've seen pictures of a bright pink metallic P-car (I think it was a 993) with a custom pink interior that I believe was custom ordered for an "Adult" film starlet.

Does anyone know what this color is called? I've only seen it three times, a cab when they first came out in 1995 (back then, I figured it was special order for one of those cosmetic ladies), the one in one the 993 commercials (then I realized it was just a bad decision that Porsche made) and this one. You're right, it's fugly but I've been wondering for years what it's called.

Porsche called this color "Vesuvio Metallic" in the US. I loved it, and had one for six years.
