Default 100,000 miles this morning

My 993 turned over to 100,000 miles this morning and I have to say I am incredibly impressed with how well these cars are made and how long they last. You would never know this car has 100,000 miles on it it looks more like 15-20k miles. I'm looking forward to another 100,000 miles. Simply amazing...

Congrats! That's encouraging to hear. Perhaps you could mention what has been replaced/serviced/enhanced. Thanks.

Outside of the mods mentioned in my signature and the top end rebuild that happened about 5,000 miles ago the only thing I have done is replaced the steering rack, starter motor and alternator. The PO had the A/C re-done and replaced the original shocks with the Bilstein HD's. Other than normal wear and tear items and a re-spray on the bumper cover not much has been done or at least not anything significant from the PO's that stands out. Up until this winter I used it as a year-round daily driver. I started feeling guilty about driving it in the crappy winters here and got a BMW for "yeomans" duties. I will be replacing the seats in short order as the side bolster on the drivers side is starting to wear thin but I was going to do that anyway as an "upgrade" to Pole Positions. I'm also going to replace the tie rods with RS spec ones and replace the bushings in the suspension pivot points within the next few weeks as they are "due" although everything checks out fine in that area. Just a little "preventative maintenance" if you will. This car feels more solid at this mileage than our BMW or MB do at far far less mileage.

I sort of wanted to do the 100mph at 100k miles thing with a picture this morning but considering I was driving past the state troopers barracks (how ironic is that?) at that point and being the speed limit is 35mph I might have posted the "help bail out Freddy thread" on Rennlist instead.

Welcome to the club!!!

I'm rapidly approaching the 170,000 mile mark. It is amazing how these cars are just getting warmed up at 100k. But I will say, at my mileage, I'm starting to get worried. Just have a list of things running now that are either just not quite up to par, or just feel like they are due for a problem.

-My clutch has to be close to being worn out. It is original, ya know.
-The flywheel is clearly past its time too due to its hard rattle on shutdown.
-I think all the wheel bearings are getting tired. I hear one of them making a rhythmic noise.
-My CV's fit the above complaint too.
-A gear noise has developed slowly this past year or so... I think in the differential.
-Drips and drops of oil from here and there. Nothing major now that I replaced warped valve covers, but still a little bit in other places.
-Developed some pinging lately. Not plugs/wires/dist caps/rotors/dist.belt related. Moving to ignition coils/knock sensor next.
-I think my control arm bushings (or something like that) may be worn out.
-A couple vibrations and rattles here and there.
-I worry about the valve guides and other internals - although I have no reason to... I just fear the worst. The pinging contributes to this fear.

Part of my fears are because I am in the process of moving right now and just know this would be the worst time to have car troubles. ($$$) Part is that I'm also about to retire my car from primary daily driver duties to maybe a 2 or 3 day a week driver to reduce costs and extend the life. I get the feeling it knows what I'm up to and is rebelling a little bit.

I met the original owner of a 96 C4 cab a few weeks ago Rennlist morning drive. The car had 193K on and it and was going strong. He had the top end redone at 140K when the SAI ports plugged. I didn't get to ask what he had replaced on the car but it didn't sound like much.

Mine has 152.000 km and as far as I can tell, it's had new valve cover gaskets, distributor heads, starter motor, MAF and O2 probe and assorted belts, pads and plugs. Still on original clutch and shocks. I'll do the kinetic lever update in a few weeks, and replace the sparky wires. On the autobahn it still attains max factory speed (with RS wing no less) as measured on GPS.

Oil consumption is about a quart every 5-6000 miles, fuel consumption in the range of 25 miles to the gallon, mixed traffic, on motorways adhering to the speed limits about 27 mpg.

My 81k mi C4S feels just as solid as my 52k mi C2 cab which feels as solid as the 25k mi turbo that I've driven on several occasions. These cars are awesome!

For the price of these wonderful cars. Shouldn't 100K+ in miles be expected?

Once upon a time a had a secretary that had an early nineties (or late eighties) Mazda 323, which she drove to work every day about 50-60 miles one way (and then back home obviously). At 280.000 MILES she came storming into the office royally p*ss*d off, because she'd brought the car into the workshop for a new clutch (the first replacement, and only 426.000 km, PUH !!!) and the mechanic had told her she should probably replace the shocks as well.
