#1, the article one poster quoted and his repetition of information that
is so obviously wrong, led me to believe the article had an agenda based
on FUD. We've had too much of that in this country lately. I HATE the
idea that people will casually read the post and repeat that incorrect
information. I have no beef with someone not understanding what they
repeated (ie with Boeing).
#2 The post from Boeing that referenced the article was probably not
the most pleasant one he's made.
#3 I do not own a Prius. But I do think it is a STEP in the right direction.
THe Hummer, on the other hand, clearly is not. What I REALLY want is
a Tesla. Now THAT'S a car. If I could trade my 993 for one today, I'd
do it.

I think Hybrids are the way of the future. But why can't they come up with a better design. The Prius looks like my DAMN computer mouse. If Porsche ever comes up with a Hybrid that $h__T better look SWEET..... GT3H

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It wasn't to long ago when Honda made the CRX HF and the Civic HF (late 80's). Granted they may have had more emissions but they got like 50mpg. That's why a prius doesn't impress me at all with it's 45mpg. Why cant it get 70mpg? Is that so hard.

We're those cars mid-sized cars capable of carrying 4 passengers in quiet comfort? Safety features like dual front airbag, side airbags, side curtain airbags? ABS, ESP, BA, TC?

No, they were not and did not. But they were fuel efficient and less costly to own and maintain. Many chose to ignore that money is energy. Whether your pumping fuel into it or buying batteries, it is energy consumed. The Prius is nothing more than a clever shell game that plays to human nature. If there's an abacus in the fuel efficiency picture, it looks like a Prius.

Be prepared everyone. You are going to see more and more Prius' on the road due to big companies converting their Fleet cars to these Hybrid alternatives. I know of 3 huge pharmacuetical companies that have recently added the Prius as a fleet car to minimize expenses. Many, many sales reps driving hybrids these days. Looks like their here to stay.

I think the Model T got pretty good mileage too. And that was really cheap compared to the Prius.

The Prius might not be a step in the right direction but I think the developers are at least FACING the right direction.
Until they are able to make a few (some, any) steps down that path it seems to be little better than a Civic in terms of substance.

The real answer is electric cars. They lower emissions, move emissions out of the cities,
increase mileage astronomically, ELIMINATE our dependence on foreign oil, accelerate like
a bat out of hell, give HUGE decreases in greenhouse gas emissions and on and on and on.
There is only ONE problem to solve in bringing these to market - batteries. Every other
problem is solved.
Noah, I don't understand "money is energy".... they are different things that can be traded
one into the other with varying efficiencies. But they are nothing like each other.

I have zero problem with Prius drivers. Live and let live.
I don't understand why Toyota had to make the thing so ugly, though.
I would consider a Tesla however.
