Does it really matter if you use Mobil 1 15-50 vs. 15-50 EXTENDED LIFE ? I chance my oil ever 3k anyway. My thoughts are it cant hurt any.

You may want to reconsider using any version of Mobil 1 15W50 - they have reformulated it will far less wear protection to meet new regulations:

Can anyone put this into plain language? Mobile 1 good/bad?
I didn't think I was stupid but perhaps I should reconsider.

Alas, there maybe hope... The "new" 15-50, hopefully its the old formula...
From the site: "Mobil 1 15W-50 is also recommended for older valve train designs that may benefit from a higher level of anti-wear normally not required for newer generation vehicles. Mobil 1 15W-50 will also provide better anti-wear protection for higher valve spring tensions in certain racing engines. "

I may be wrong but wasn't the general consensus that we should continue with the same oil (M1 15-50 for most of us) with the addition of a bottle of the "GM Engine Oil Suppliment (EOS)"?
I've ordered six bottles from these guys:

Seems like a reasonable solution to the problem.

Mostly doesn't need to comply with emission controls that are the cause for the reduction of wear protection additives...

Guys, in case I sound like Chicken Little, my decision to stop using Mobill 1 15W50 (or add some additive like GM EOS) was based on chats with Steve Weiner @ Rennsport, Jerry Woods, and other legitimate experts who are all advising a change of oil (or addition of additive). I may try Swepco 306 15W40 which also has alot of support...
