Default Before i wreck something....

Hi all
Can someone point me into the direction of the idle screw, if there is one?
I installed a new chip and after about a month, and in reality about 3 drives, the idle has increased to about 1100-1200 at idle when hot.
Is there a simple way to adjust this or do I need to take it to someone?
I know it's nothing really but I hate mucking around with things when they were fine before.
By the way, the chip worked too. Made a difference for sure. Maybe not huge, but certainly in the mid range.
TIA

There is a DIY on how to bend idle on the ISV.
I think it involves uncovering three hex screws at the end, easing off those, and rotating the core of the ISV.
This was discussed on several threads involving LightWeightFlywheel installs.
Do a search and you will find several posts on that,
cheers

Hi:

Idle speeds are controlled by the ECU and the Idle Stabilizer on top of the intake manifold. There is no mechanical adjustment; i.e., "idle screw".

I would remove the Idle Stabilizer and clean that out VERY thoroughly with Carburetor Cleaner since these get dirty and become sluggish.

After that, I'd be looking at intake manifold vacuum leaks and perhaps, oxysensor(s).

Huh? All that for something that was working perfectly before the chip?
Considering I don't even know what an idle stabiliser is, let alone find one, I think I will just take out the chip and see if that fixes it.
Thanks

Any time you mess with somethiing in an older car, you risk upsetting an equilibrium the system has arrived at. Things break when you change other things.

Try cleaning the ISV. It may be your new chip mappings require it to do things the old chip didn't and it's not up to the task.

I thought only the '95 models had chips that could be swapped?

In New Zealand it will be a Euro spec motor/DME. How about discussing with the chip supplier or is that e-bay !!!!

Geoff,
The chip was from one of the suppliers on RL. Wouldn't touch E bay for anything like this.

Andreas,
In NZ we are the ROW cars and can swap out the chip. I will check Pcar and see if I can do this.
Cheers

All 993's have chips available from various manufacturers but the 95 chips are cheep (half the cost approx.$400.00-$500.00) when compared to the 96-98 vario cars ($1000.00+)
