Once, I lived in Chi

Now Ghetto Racer says I have attained it.

Either way it works.

(Though most Rennlist long timers call me The Big Turtle. Maybe I should change it.)

Interesting Mark, I'd never heard the name of X's car before. We were banned by my mother from watching the show as kids, so of course we only wanted to watch it more.

My user name = my name. I guess I wasn't too creative with that.

kkim= first initial added to my last name. Use it on many forums I frequent... makes it easier for me to remember.

Joe,

Check out Wikipedia. They do a nice entry.

Speed Racer was one of the shows we were allowed to watch on a limited basis. Did you watch the show at all? If so, names like Snake Oiler, the Car Acrobatic Team, the Mammoth car and the incredible GRX car would have sent you into a childhood frenzy. That show did nothing but feed my love for cars and speed.

BTW, I just bought a 1:18 scale model of the Mach 5 for $32 off of ebay.

Mark,

Nice Mach 5, the saw blades in front are pretty wild.

I did a search and found that write up on Wikipedia last night. I also found a remote controlled Shooting Star car. My mom, a psychologist, thought the show was too violent, which is pretty funny by today’s standards. I still watched it all the time and it also fed my love of cars & racing.

Cool, Joe! BTW, I forgot to mention that the old shows are out on DVD. Worth every penny to recapture our wasted childhoods.

Cool, I didn't know they were out on DVD, I'll have to pick those up. I already bought the Racer X mountain biking jersey.

I guess this is an early head start on an explain your avatar thread.
