1) racetrack advantage
2) 0-60 times
3) foul weather system
4) a**hole
5) talking out your ***
6) RWD fascists

Seriously, here are a couple threads. One was started by me a few years ago, before I knew that C2's are clearly superior.

Like Greg said, the car to car variance often dwarfs the performance differences of 2wd v. 4wd.

If 4 wheel drive is soooo great, how come Porsche didn't install 4wd in any of their RS/RSCS/Carrera Cup or GT-2/3 cars from the 993 era?

Because it was illegal in many race series. FIA, ALMS, Grand Am, IMSA to name a few.

not to be picking nits or noses or anything else that can be picked, but according to Andrean's 993 Companion book. there are no 993 C2's...that was a distinction used for 964's, but Porsche never tagged the 2-wheel version as a C2 for our cars....

now back to our regularly scheduled programming already in progress...

During tha same era, Audi ran 4wd cars in some of those series with weight penalties, why didn't Porsche? Was it just to be legal? or was there some other reason?

I thought the Audi's ran well before that. I don't recall any AWD Audis in the mid-late 90's in those series at the same time as the GT2, RSR, etc. I haven't had a change to goodle it but my memory is fairly good on those things.

Which was never called a C2S in any factory literature, etc. The proper term was Carrera S. C2 and C2S were all terms given by the public.

You posted something like it was fact and I corrected you. Maybe if you did a small amount of research before you posted?

I too went out looking for a suitable 993. I bough the best i could find it just happened to be a C4.

Just my two pence worth.

Thats worth almost $.04 here.

From a perspective of having/had/have both, I do not notice any performance differences in terms of a c2 being "nimbler". My current c4 feels just like the c2 did minus wet/snow weather conditions.

I was in Louisville, KY over the weekend where it had started to ice/snow and the C4 felt so at ease it was almost strange i.e. to juxtapose a Porsche in that weather.

For those that drive their cars on a daily basis AND have seasons, the C4 is a no brainer in my opinion.

Although, and I will say although, because my last 95 C2, with the limited slip did very well in the snow IF you knew your car AND knew how to drive, in general, on the snow, then it was also fine AND I never ran snow tires. If I had snow tires, I would feel almost as well in the C2 as in the C4.

BOTH are just great cars AND, I agree, it comes down to what you find.
