I love the C4(S), when the conditions are bad. Can't wait for some spring (read raining) DE's to really give it a work out. The weight on 993s are so variable that one person's C4(S) might not be as heavy as another RWD car. If the weight between cars is equal the AWD car should have a better balance over the RWD car.

Any stock 993 is going to push, a proper alignment, tires, sways, etc will go a long way to eliminating that.

"Performance" discussions, however, are somewhat comical when you think about it. The difference between a 2wd and a 4wd is about 0.1 seconds from 0-60mph and about 2-3mph in top speed. 99% of the drivers here could not drive the cars to the performance extreme necessary to take advantage of any "speed" differences. However, they could take advantage of traction benefits.

According to the specs on my mint copy of "The 911" Porsche brochure the C2 has a 0-60 time of 5.3 sec. and a top speed of 171 mph. Weight: 3064 lb
The C4S 0-60 time is 5.2 sec. and a top speed of 168. Weight: 3197 lb
The 133 lbs may add to the speed divergence.
If you're really torn just buy both.
Whichever one you chose it will make a wonderful addition to your family.

I was looking for a C2 and ended up with a C4 and couldn't be happier. Most of the time she drives like a rear wheel drive car anyway. The only time power is transferred to the front in any big way is when the rear loses grip (IIRC).
I agree with the previous comments that said go for the colour and condition that suits your pocket and don't worry if the front wheels get power or not.

I've just been out in my C4 on the damp and greasy roads that we regularly experience in the UK. The C4 allows you to apply signifcant amounts of power as you exit a bend and far earlier then you would feel comfortable doing with a C2. The improved traction means that it rockets out of a bend whilst other cars are scrabbling for grip.
I too went out looking for a suitable 993. I bough the best i could find it just happened to be a C4.
Just my two pence worth.
