What's the oil smell when I turn on the heater?

When I first got the car, I made the mistake of trying to keep the oil at the full mark. Used to smell all the time and my close would also after a spirited drive. I told my wife it was my mistress' perfume "Eau de Mobil Un"
As far as the smell of exhaust when backing up, there are flaps on the heated air intakes that should avoid this.

My main issue was that the heater would come on very hot even though I just had it set to just a little bit, but as recommended had the window down a bit and drove it like that for a couple of days now and it seems to be better it doesn't blow too hot and the smell has cut down to almost normal as the car always had the Porsche oily smell

In my experience and according to the 993 HVAC expert Tore Bergvill, one or both of your mixer flap servos may be failing.

Its the oil that gets into the insides of the heat exchanger that they are likely smelling.
When I took my heat exhangers off to install new gaskets and hardware, the insides were coated with old oil and soot. I thoroughly cleaned them using my water based degreaser.
