Default LeMans Update

Michael Delaney, in the Gulf Porsche #20, is running 2nd after 35 laps, average speed 144 mph. Just started raining hard, resulting in a lot of spins.
Mike and the Ferarri have pitted for rain tires.
I will keep everyone posted on the progress of the race.

?? (Rennlist requires 2 characters minimum, or I would have kept it simple).

"Racing is life. Everything else is just waiting." - One of the best lines ever written for a movie.

Please raise your hand if your itch for a PORSCHE began after seeing this movie?
I did! When I was 12 years old... I remember watching this movie on TV over the Memorial weekend while flipping channels between Le Mans and Indy 500 live...

Indeed, that was/is one of the greatest racing quotes ever. I also liked, "Michael, I want you to drive flat out. I want Porsche to win Le Mans."

I did not realize, until last night, that all the racing footage was from the 1970 Lemans. The car equipped with all the movie cameras attached actually finished in ninth place.

The start of the race is unreal, the whole "heartbeat" theme. The end of that first lap as well when they flip to the in-car of the lead car downshifting into the chicane before the front straight, then full throttle coming out - the sound is amazing! I even got my buddies in college to appreciate that scene and I graduated in 2002!

I wonder if there's something on DVD that you can buy which gives some behind the scenes info about the making of the movies... there has to be something?

Alas my "want" for a Porsche started with an article in the UK car mag called "Car".......the article was titled "A pukka porsche" and was all about the first 924 to receive a true Porsche engine....I think the article was 1986, I was 30......I actually bought the Non-Porsche engined Turbo instead......it was in a colour very similat to Arena red, but was called something like "wine metallic" or something.........it was a great car while kept on boost.....and gave most high performance cars of the era a real run for their money for about half the price!!! I aways wanted a 911 but could never really afford until recently, so went through another 924 turbo, a 944, 951, 968 before arriving at my current and best car.....my 993.... sorry that took long than anticipated

Not to emphasize the generational gap, but I was in 5th grade.

I'm pretty sure mine started when I was a tot and my father would hand me me a soapy sponge and let me have at the Fuchs on his 911 SC. That car was a stunner, perfect black on black.

I got a fever. And the only prescription...is more Porsche!

Hard to say when it started for me, but I'd have to say it was with the 956 at Daytona.
