Any difference in OE vs local retailer Bosch wiper blades?
Is this one of those "the same only different" things where Porsche gets a special rubber compound or frame design or spring tension or something for the blades? Or are all Bosch wiper blades the same?
Reason I ask is that I've been pretty unimpressed by Pep Boys Bosch blades on other cars. Just wondering if Bosch has different levels of quality for different distribution channels.

And one more thing: what's the "Rubber Buffer" part number 993.628.239.01? It seems to fit between the driver's side wiper arm and the blade frame. I don't have it. What's it do? Maybe increases pressure on that side of the blade or somthing?

The "rubber buffer" is likely the piece that keeps the two blades separated.

The rubber bumper attaches to the arm and keeps the blades from banging together. The Bosch replacements I've found at the local Kragen/Pep Boys, etc. don't have the appropriate slot to plug the bumper in to. Oddly, the ExactFit brand seemed to have this slot (although I've not tried them). You could also just buy the replacement blades and install into your existing holder.

I've always wondered the same thing, but I guess you can't go wrong with OEM. Where did you end up ordering from and how much (if you don't mind me asking)?

Stoddard. I really like those guys even if they are pricier than Sunset. They have excellent in-stock for 993s and ground shipping gets to me in 1-2 days.

Hmm, quite a difference. Bosch vs. Porsche. The Porsche blades have extra hinges and the driver's side is a bit longer. The bottom photo shows the difference in flexibility, so these will hopefully conform to the curve of the windshied better.
The packaging says "Made in Belgium" but no brand.
Part number shows 993-628-901-00 which is the set of two blades. Stoddard was $53.48, same as Pelican; I imagine Sunset would be cheaper.

I'm bringing this thread back from the scrap heap to ask if anyone has a
photo of the correct mounting of the rubber buffer. I think I have an idea
where it should go but thought I'd ask and reduce the guesswork. Thanks.

With the factory blades, there's an obvious place, which probably isn't there with aftermarket blades. I'll take a pic tomorrow if you want.

Here's a pic of the rubber stop on the drivers side wiper blade.
I bought the set of blades and rubber stop from Sunset this spring. Two blades 993-628-901-00 were $31.98 (list 53.48) and the rubber stop 993-615-227-00 was $2.16 (list 3.24).
