Default Greg Smith Lift

I don't know what to happened to that group buy thread on this. I bought mine from them off ebay for 1095 no tax and I drove up to Delaware to pick it up. They said its made in China but looks to be well made. The thing is seriously heavy and robust.

Mike,

I bought mine in Feb. and use it regularly and I feel it's well built and have not had any problems at all.

I think the group buy thread went away due to a non-member starting the thread.
If there is enough serious interest - I would be willing to look into starting a real group buy.

I paid less than the proposed group buy price.

Mike,
Sorry, it took some time to set it up. It works great. The instruction manual is in fractured english and I had to go get some hydraulic oil (get at least 3 gallons). It is also very difficult to move around w/o some help.

Also, that last cross member looks like it might be in the way for some things but I don't know the wisdom of cutting it as some here have done.

I swear the more I look at those, the more they look unsafe to me. A norrower foot print than the car's just seems wrong

Hi John,

How much side sway does this lift have when you have the 993 up nice and high? Its physically looks unsafe...if you really crank on a nut while its up does the whole car move around?

Cheers,

mike

I will have to get back to you on the side sway, I don't think this was made for a lot of under body work. But the lift is way more massive than it looks in the pictures.

If you do the geometry, you'll see that unless the welds fail and the lift collapses, it would take over 1000 lbs of side load to "tip" it over.

A quick check of ebay shows that they're still selling them at that price, assuming you're the only bidder (which is entirely possible). Thanks for the tip!

The group buy is still active and as for price I can go back and see if Greg Smith can do better, but I was promised very good shipping rates. The difference between the ebay price [if you get it for that] and the group buy is $55.00. That could be easily be eaten up in additional freight. If any are still interested you can email me @ criv911@enter.net.
