Default Phone Console Swap

I have the phone console in dark blue that I'd like to remove and replace with the standard one. Does anyone want to swap? It would be a great place to mount a nav screen or I-Pod.

Based on a search of the archives, it looks like an easy DIY project.

Is the ashtray installed behind the phone console or will I need to aquire that part also?

I'll post a pic as soon as I can get my kids to do it for me! I'll also look up the correct color name for the blue interior.

Thanks,

John

David in LA has a black one. I'd prefer blue as the parking brake lever, steering wheel, etc. are blue. My console is covered in Midnight Blue leather. Anybody have a blue standard console they want to trade?

Here's a photo of the phone console. Surely someone here wants it to add some...nav...gauges...?

It appears that there is some demand for a phone console. Finding a Midnight Blue leather standard console is the challenge.

Hey pinogg:

Is it cashmere leather? Maybe it could be re-dyed? Can you post a photo?

Thanks

Most dealers have upholstery guys come in and do repairs.
At Porsche dealerships these independent workers are usually excellent.
I have seen them in action with an airbrush they can match or change any color to perfection.
I had a steering wheel done and it was excellent.
They mostly do door panels and speaker covers in 993's that people kick when trying to get in and out of the car.
I have also watched them do seats that show wear. In minutes they are like brand new.

There is no ash tray installed. But more important is that there is a section cut out of the lower dash piece where the bat phone attaches. You can see it if you pull the console front panel. The panel is held in place by two screws on the sides near the top. Pop off the little round plastic screw-hole covers and back out the screws until the fall down where you can't reach them (I replaced mine with longer screws).

That's weird. My lower dash does have an ashtray... and two holes where the screws went that held the phone console on. Do you have a pic of your lower dash with the section cut out???
