Question OEM-99311036051 AIR Trumpet INTAKE ???

Hello,

I was considering the purchase of the OEM-99311036051 AIR Trumpet INTAKE for my 993 non-turbo. I live in GA and its AFRICA hot, with that said I thought it would be a good idea to get a bit more cold air in the the engine. Anyway in thinking about it a little more, I realized I have the motor
sound package and I assume that means there are holes cut into the air box that would diminish the quantity of cold air drawn in my the Trumpet Intake part.

Do I need to cover the wholes for the intake to be effective? and or will it function ok even with the wholes not blocked.

Thanks everyone.

I put the trumpet on my motor sound airbox. You don't need to cover the holes. Having the trumpet on will only increase the cold intake, but if you want to increase it even more cover the holes or get a non motor sound lid.

Cool ......the scoop.

Cover the holes....if you don't, why bother. Note, I don't think the trumpet will fit a 993 car with a moveable spoiler. The trumpet is a 993TT part, by the way.

I have the aerokit II on my 1996 C2. No moveable spoiler. Sounds like it was made for my car. Does the insanity of the slope ever cease?

Because you will only be increasing the cold air intake plus have the motorsound benefit. I ripped that pimped out fake chrome piece out of there.

Think of the possible combinations:
Stock airbox lid with trumpet – probably the coolest air combo, no motorsound
Motorsound airbox lid with trumpet – motorsound benefit, probably the second coolest combo
Motorsound airbox lid with no trumpet - motorsound benefit, sucking in the hot air in the engine compartment
Stock airbox lid – just sucking in the hot air in the engine compartment no motorsound

In the end there are always compromises.

Cool Joe S. is on the monet

He is right on with the combos...I missing the induction sound at 5,000 RPM. I could hear it in the car with a helmet on...good indicator of corner exit speed without having to look at the tach...but I think the benefit od sucking in ambient air, over hot engine compartment air, makes it worth it....I do miss that sound though.

Aero Kit II, the trumpet was made for you...and it's less than $100! It's a 993TT part, readily available.

I just ordered the part from Phil @ http://www.sunsetimports.com/porscheparts.php

Cost $ 39.00 dollars plus shipping. The local dealer wanted $ 77.00 dollars.
