Car arrived in Tampa from Sante Fe yesterday. The uncertainty involved with a long distance purchase, sight unseen, is gone! Entire process was very smooth, in large part to the owner, GW, a PCA'er from Sante Fe.
Can't describe in words how pleased I am with car. It's a beaut and arrived in the condition as advertized (PCA classified for those shopping). I did have concerns re the interior wood trim as it didn't show well on multiple pics. In the flesh, however, I love it.
The car is stock and minimally optioned: motor sound package and above noted wood package (obscenely priced @ $7400 !! ). I plan to lower it to ROW ride height although I've not decided on the particulars. I've already obtained 993 S 18 inch wheels from a fellow lister and that leads me to two questions for the board. I'm thinking that black wheels would go nicely with the guards red exterior and black exterior. Is this crazy, heresy, or bad taste. If not, which wheels would you powdercoat black the 17's with new Michelins or the 18's??
My son followed me home from the pickup. I asked him what he thought and he responded by saying it looked just like our (recently departed) 997. He's almost right; I reminded him that the 997 looks just like a 993!

Yeah, I know but my camera and technological wizard are off at camp in North Carolina for the next several weeks. The previous owner e-mailed me several pics; I'm happy to forward to someone much more computer savie than me if you'd like pics now.

Congrats on the "new" car. Have you seen the 993 right next to a 997? The similarities are obvious of course, but what I found most striking is that the 993 is about 3/4 s the size of the 997 in every dimension. Maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea...the 993 is a wonderfully compact little package.

Here are some pictures of Jack's 993 that were sent to him by the previous owner. I really like that interior - it's very different.

Does'nt pcarfan (of Ft. Worth) have the Guards Red / Black wheel combination? Try a search and I'm sure you'll find a thread on black wheels. The wood dash is definately unique and maybe considered rare (?) as you sure don't see many on this board. Looks like the inside of my old Lexus - which is'nt a bad thing
Best wishes

Thanks Tom.
PorscheDavid: You're right. I put my leftover 997 car cover on the 993 and it worked nicely. It was loose enough in all dimensions to get on and off easily but it still provides nice protection in the garage.
Howdy993: Thanks for the tip re pcarfan. That's definely the look I'm thinking about.
