Loved the 997. Great car. I think Porsche did a great job; a sig improvement over the 996 in all regards. No problems in 18 months of ownership for me and I understand this applies to the 997's in general. Loved the car.
My situation was a little special. I was able to buy a well equiped 997 at a great price, drive it for 18 months and sell it for more than I paid for it. Also, the 997 is a great drive, and I do mean great. It was so competent that I could only use a very small percentage of its capabilities driving around Tampa. Ultimately I picked up a new Miata for daily driving; you know, the virtues of driving a slow car fast and all that. The miata rewarded/required heel toe and redline shifting and could be slid/drifted around corners without necessarily going to jail. The 997 became the long drive on the weekend car. Eventually, I was putting more miles on my 96 C2 track car than the 997 (ask me about our recent Road Atlanta outing with 305 track miles on the first day : ) ).
Less than a month after I accepted an offer I couldn't refuse for the 997 I found Greg's car in Sante Fe the first day it was advertised on the PCA classifieds. The rest is history. There is probably more to the story at a subconscious level but enough blabbering.
Thanks for indulging me.

Did you say "obscenely priced at $7400.00? Did you really pay that much for it? If you did, what was the catch? If there was no catch, why can't i find a car like this one? Man, I need to get to know you!!!

This car is now being parted out. Bob Brooks, AKA "viperbob", has agreed to tend to all the details. He can be reached at losaltosbob@hotmail.com
