Wow, I never realized how big they are until I see them next to a car.

LOL They are bigger than you think as when you look at the clock in the dash it looks quite small...

I ran a search for a clock source. My contact at SiemansVDO suggested you contact Hollywood Speedometer and Clock at (818) 761-5163. I hope this helps.

Please contact me if there is a third run.

Guys,
For the 57 clocks I assembled, all of the used mechanisms came from one or more of the usual Porsche dismantlers, Ebay, private sellers, etc. Purchasing these new through Sunset Porsche (for example) would cost $390 each. And that's just the clock mechanism.

I then sent nearly every mechanism to North Hollywood Speedometer for one or more repairs.

Early on I sent emails to a variety of VDO's worldwide offices explaining the project and asking whether there was a way to purchase direct. Not one message was returned.

Please sign me up for round 3. I'd love to have one - it could serve as my pcar fix when I'm toiling away in the office. Just let me know what I need to do and when to do it.

Rudolph, Hound Dog & Michael Russell,
I've added you to next list. At this moment I have 16 people already and have 7 clocks that I will finish in the next week or so. I ended up with 37 wood blanks for the second round - but only 30 clock mechanisms. It's taken me some time to round up the necessary mechanisms to complete the seven additional clocks.

Since a few people will inevitably bow out when I send a reminder email, I will sell these last seven off in the order that names were added to the list. If someone opts out, I'll offer the clock to the next Rennlister. And so on until these 7 have found new homes.

I never intended to make more than 20 original clocks... But the interest grew. So I made 30+ more. If I get sufficient interest over the next few months, I'll do what it takes to produce another (final) round. If the interest is lukewarm, these 7 represent the last of the last.

That sounds like good news. I don't think I will be one that bows out. ;-)

Go ahead and add me to the list. I was debating getting added to round 2, but they are too cool to resist.

Thanks, TJ

Actually, please sign me up for two if the third run gets off the ground. I have a friend who's a huge Pcar fan with a lovely '88 who's retiring this year. It would make a perfect retirement gift.
