My Sad, Sad Fraiday....

Horrible.
Sorry to hear about the lift damaging your car. I'm sure your lift is like mine and requires you to hold the switch for it to go up. The only way I can think this would happen is that when the breaker blew, it arced across the switch contacts, welding them closed. If they ask you to return any parts of the electrical mechanism, I'd first talk to them and see whether you can take the switch cover off to take photos before returning it . Look for burn marks and indications of an arc on the metal housing. I would not move the switch back and forth as that could open them back up. They could try to say you did something to the switch after the fact or say there was nothing wrong with the switch. Maybe you could have someone there with them when they open it. I think it's also feasible that something arced in the motor itself to keep it running.

Karosserie in King of Prussia PA, http://www.karosserie.com/ is an incredible body shop. Their top metal worker can do anything. I have been through their shop and they are first class. Good luck and so sorry to hear of it.

I'm really sorry to hear about your day today. Don't beat yourself up.
Take it to a good body shop, get it fixed quick, and put this behind you.

Thank You all for your kind thoughts and sympathy. I will get some pictures up sometime Saturday when I have some time to put this together. The car is still up on the lift as the only way to lower it is to raise it past the safety locks which would push the car farther into the 'I' beam above. I hope to have the company installer here Sat or Monday to get this down.
Autobonrun; Thanks for the tip on getting pictures of the contacts. I think that is the root of the problem and even if there were a stop sensor, I don't think that would over ride the stuck contacts.
I will check out Euro Pro's and Karosserie for repairs.
I think I will now go to bed and try not to think about this..... :-(

I am so sorry about what happened. I hope you'll be able to fix it. Keep us posted, yours was a truly special ride. I wrecked a couple of 911s myself. I know what you must be going through right now.
Good luck!

OMG, that is terrible. Very sorry to hear your news. My baby got a scratch in the door the other day but this I can't even imagine. Good luck with getting your repairs done.

I can just imagine the sickening feeling you had while knowing what was happening. Fingers crossed that after the repairs you will not know the difference.
BTW, your insurance company may pursue a subrogation claim against the lift mfg.
Good luck,
Bill
