I have never seen that combo before.....I'm curious.....when braking at night, is it like looking through a red tunnel in the rearview? because that's a lot of brake light behind you.

Should keep you from getting rear ended though, that is, unless the person behind you is blind drunk.

You know, it does look like a red tunnel at night! Especially in the rain.

Unfortunately the PO moved out of the country, and I have no contact info, so I can’t find out if it came that way or he added it for some reason.

The luxeons are great - the only problem with them is they run so hot they need thermal management - sinks or fans. If you could figure that out, they would make a heck of a brake light!
