Default Scary 993 cab lift at high speeds

just wanted to see of anyone else has experienced this. I just bought a 993 a week ago. at speeds in excess of 100mph, with the top down, it seems to have a scary amount of lift in the front end to make me feel very uncomfortable, like I have little or no control. I have not tried it with the top up. but has anybody else experienced it? It just dosent make sense to me that Porsche would sell a car that does this.

I must admit to ALWAYS hitting 100mph at some point in my journey and I have never had the experiences you mention. -- With the deflector in place its very comfortable

I hit 100 mph twice yesterday with the top down and wouldn't have known it if I hadn't looked at the speedometer. Perhaps the aerodynamic forces on the tail are causing a rear-end squat which feels as if the front is coming up??? Not sure about this one.

Any racers wish to comment???

Well.... When I experienced a floating sensation or an insecure feeling in my 993 at high speeds it usually have to do with the rear kinematic toe adjustmets being out of spec.

Would suggest you take your 993 to a place where they can actually check the rear kinematic toe. Not every place have the correct $5000 Porsche gauge to check that, you make sure you ask them first. You didn't mention anything about your suspension, also there is a possibility you could have some bad shocks.

Even with the convertible top open the car should be steady as a rock even above 100 mph.

Agree with Robin, had issue where one of my rear springs sagged and caused same sensation. My experience would be with checking the suspension and do as Robin suggests.

I know "a guy" (a real idiot) who hit 150mph with the top down and did not experience any lift.

Has to be your suspension...I've been 135 in my 98] but it was lowered w/ROW suspension. My retired bus. partner called me one Sunday morning going downhill somewhere East of Paso Robles at 172 in his 96 Cab with stock suspension and over 60k miles on it. He also said he got a KA band "brap" on his V-1 but ignored it.....

I have not had any problem with driving at 100+ in 2 different Cabs. Has to be the suspension.

I haven't oberved this either. Find a good shop that can do a four wheel alignment to the 1996+ 993 specs-I'm assuming that you don't track your car. That should take care of it. Of course it might be time to look at the suspension and start down the slippery slope.

my 993 w/ the top down has been very stable (as others mentioned... didn't realize until i looked @ the speedo) imho actually felt more stable than my former boxster.

i'm going to guess & say it must be your suspension set up... esp. if still stock. air gets under there & creates lift my friend.
