2.5 lb. 1211 Halon.
Mounted on Brey Krause mount off Pass seat rails.
Many folks have ridden in the pass seat and no one has complained that the extinguisher hits the back of their legs.
Good feeling of securuty and insurance.

The fire extinguisher is a potential lethal weapon if you snap roll your car and it comes undone, especially if it happens on the street where you won't have a helmet...suggest while on the street, mount fire extinguisher with the new Brey Krause mount that looks to be very solid.
For the track, the remote mount fire system is a winner...a little more but a lot more safety for the buck, IMHO.

On Time,
I mounted mine lengthwise along the hump between the two back seats. I built a bracket that mounts to the rear seat belt bolts and the FE sits lengthwise along this bracket. Do a search on Rennlist for fire extinguisher, another member posted pictures. He has a similar bracket with the extinguisher mounted crossways - I borrowed the idea from him. I made my bracket out of aluminum sheet. Had it chromated at a friends shop and sprayed it flat black. It's the dogs, as you guys say! Best part was that is cost me $0!
I have a 2.5lb FE136 unit. In Canada we cannot buy halon extinguishers and FE136 is the alternative.
happy new year,
cheers

Hi Lorenzo,
I am assuming you mean for the street? Like, Martin, I am concerned that it will become a deadly projectile should you ever be involved in a collision. On the street, I feel there is very, very little likelihood of you needing a fire extinguisher within arm's reach. That said, I DO keep my 2.5lb Halon unit that I use at the track in the trunk. Lift up the the trunk carpet floor and you'll see that it fits perfectly in the little nook behind the plastic shroud under and to the left (to the passenger side) of the latch area. I wrap my fire bottle in a shop towel and when I close up and latch the carpet unit, it sits in that nook securely (and safely). Plus, it's not in the way (both visually and physically) like it would be when mounted in the passenger area.
As a side note, many many years ago I actually had to grab my fire extinguisher out of my Alfa Romeo to douse an engine fire in another motorist's car. I got it right in time as he was hitting it with a 32oz. Big Gulp!! In my Spider, I quickly got into the trunk and dispensed with his engine fire in seconds. It is good insurance to have one in any car, IMHO. Even my wife's Honda Odysessey has a small glove-box size one.

Like most people with the DAS rollbar, mine is mounted on the crossbar that mounts along the "tranny tunnel". It's actually within reach with the harnesses on, unlike the B-K seat unit, but I can't imagine why you'd want to stay strapped into the car to try and put out a fire.

Hey Kary,
Okay, I've never heard of these stories. I guess with my Sabelt QR six point harnesses, I figured every race set-up was super easy to get out of.
Still, if you're harnessed, the B-K seat unit is going to be out of reach.
