If you don't have one, here is a good pic of one in Grey instead of the Black one you're selling. This pic is from Kelly Kim's fine car that is for sale at the moment (don't want to get into any copyright issues on the pic)....

speaking of these things, has anyone ever tried to source the small switch (the one that turns the fone on and off)? I'd like to find a momentary contact version of that switch to wire to a garage opener to replace the dummy switch.

On Robin's site www.p-car.com they mention using the "engine warning switch". I presume they mean the " ! " switch.
Hope that helps.

Phone console removal is similar to standard console. One problem is that you will wind up with 2 holes in your lower dash on each side of the ashtray. The console just bolts straight into the dash. These are optional if you are installing from scratch, but if you remove one from the factory, you are probably going to have a damaged lower dash...

I thought about removing mine last winter. Its like exporitory surgery with wiring in there, although you can wrestle with it and get it out. I've heard the lower section of the dash board valance can be replaced with the proper section and ash tray just like factory. No examples and/orPET diagrams in the factory manual or even the turbo supplement show how these thngs were installed. I was told that few were optioned for NA, however know one knows. Also said they were getting harder to come by and quite popular with the concours crowd.
If anyone ever tackles the project and captures if on camera, it may be one of the more valuable DIY's in that section.

Nice try Craig. The lower dash is the same, it is just that if you remove one that came from the factory you will have 2 nice holes in you lower dash. This stays in place when you remove the console.
And Tom, if you want SHOCK
try pricing a lower dash in leather. I did figure out Porsche pricing for leather parts. Take the price for the same part in leatherette, and put a 0 (as in zero) at the end and you have it in leather. So a new lower dash for your turbo is $2500 (oh, and the little leather cover for the ash tray is another $280).
