Default Restore - Engine Restorer

I tried a search on the 993 board but did not get a hit. Has anyone used something called "Engine Restorer & Lubricant" by Automotive Restore Products? Contains "CSL" formula to "restore" compression, hp and engine life. There is a 6-cylinder version that you add to the engine oil. Advertised in Automobile magazine and on the web at www.RestoreUSA.com. I am interested if it is not a gimmick. Thanks for any input.

Snake oil. Avoid the additives. The use of a good-quality oil is all you ever need. If you need to rebuild or refresh certain components, then no oil/additive is going to prevent the inevitable.

I would tend to agree with Edward on this... but what is it exactly that you are trying to fix?

These additives actually lubricate the cash out of your wallet. I would avoid them since you don't know what they do to the insides of your engine and you certainly do not want to do a rebuild unless you have to.

I would refrain from the use of additives such as Engine Restore. Unless of course I find a bottle of liquid 3.8L and RS cams

Thanks for all of your replies! It seemed gimmickey to me. I'm not trying to fix anything per se, just attempting to maintain and prolong. Even though this product is compatible with synthetic oils, you are most likely right that it would not help much except as a placebo! Since I use Mobil 1 and change oil/filter regularly that should be enough.

Yeah, avoid the additives-but there was also an ad in Automobile for the Turbulator which they say will add up to 35bhp-go for that instead. ;O

This Restore product has been out there since at least 1987. I know becasue I used it on my 1979 Chevy Luv pickup truck back then when I was in college. No difference noticed on my already over 100K mile truck. Should have spent the $ on beer instead.
