The crested has the Porsche crest embossed in the headrest, no difference in the seat.
Porsche 993 seats are standard, supple leather, and Sport seats. Can be full power or not, with heat or not, with crest or not. They all weigh about the same. The sport seats (late 1995 and later), in addition to greater bolstering, have attractive hard backs that may be painted body color or standard black metallic (ish).
Supple leather seats and Sport seats (with crest) shown below:

Are you talking about the Porsche crest embossed on the headrest? In that case, there's no other difference in the seats. If you're looking for a true upgrade, the way to go is aftermarket seat, some of them even recline... Largest benefit is weight savings, with stock seats weighing from 60-80lbs depending on how many electric motors - aftermarket weight is usually under 20lbs each!

I recall an advertiser in Exellence selling hard back Sport Seat conversion kits for under $2,000 just a few months back. This kit used the bottom part of your existing seat and just replaced the upright part of the seat. Not sure whethter they came with a crest option. I don't have a copy of Excellence handy , but someone else might remember who the vendor is. I have never seen these in action myself, so this is not an endorsement!

damn that's a lot of $$ for a seat that's just as heavy, and only marginally better than standard items! They do look nice though
