Today, I received a quote from someone as to words to live by. I thought it fit this thread. Here goes
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely with a pretty, well-preserved body. The goal is to skid in broadside, tires smoking, body all dented, leaking fluids, gas gauge on empty, thoroughly used up and worn out, proclaiming, 'Holy ****, what a ride!' "

Was that price including flying in the Ruf technician from Germany to do the conversion?
What is the current conversion price now that Ruf is in the USA?

The conversion was done in Hunstville with the Ruf tech flying in about a year ago. This was after the Ruf place opened in dallas, I think (not sure). The cost for the conversion was somewhere around $45k. This included splitting the case and starting fresh, the Ruf suspension, clutch, 19" wheels, CTR front bumper, oil cooler, and other bits and pieces.
Rufus is now at my body shop getting the Ruf front bumper refitted, the Ruf rear bumper installed, the dent (thanks to the trucking company) removed from the roof & sunroof, and lots of other detail clean-up. I'm very excited... this shop has the best paint guy in Ventura County. I've also been offerred some used Ruf Sport Seats, for which I'm tryimng to accumulate the funds.
Just so you don't think Rufus was perfect... I already replaced the alternator, the clutch accumulator is shot, and the door stop is ripped out of the door jam. There was also no place to thread the front tow hook???? All of this will be fixed as time goes forward. I will have spent a good deal more money than I planned, but let me say this is one amazing car to drive. VERY fast, very smooth, and great handling. Pictures when done!

Wow, congrats steve! This will become an urban legend......sort of like buying a "small sports car" from a little old lady in Pasadena. Car turned out to be a RUF conversion at a great price!

Ditto your experience. I guess that's the rite of passage for all second RUF owners.
Of course, my tumble at the Rumble contributed mightily to the $$$$$$ being spent as well.
Hope you get RUFUS back in pristine shape soon. I'm hoping to get mine by 9-9-05.
