Talking Harley VROD and porsche

Just traded my ducati 999 for a custom Harley VROD. JUST AN FYI- DID YOU GUYS KNOW PORSCHE DESIGNED THE ENGINE??!! If interested, I can post some details about the collaboration. This bike is not your average harley, the hard core harley guys poo-poo it, but the thing is so far and away technologically advanced from the traditional HD (i have had one) it is unreal! (not to mention stock has 40 more hp than a stocker HD!!)

This purchase must be the ultimate slippery slope mod!!!!!!

Oooh! Not a Harley fan, but I'd like to hear the details on that collaboaration. Any motorcycle that made you trade in your Ducati must be something else!

Please post.

Friend of mine has one of these (AND an F360, AND a DB9, AND.... sigh) Not your traditional Harley by any stretch of the imagination, but one damned beautiful bike. Rides like a dream.

Discovery Channel did a document of creating v-rod while back, they didn't do much of Porsche collaboration(I knew about it before so I though it would've been bigger part of it) but pretty interesting anyway.

If you really want to get exited about that "Porsche" engine, you need to check Matt Hotch's (www.hotmatchcustomcycles.com) V Lux custom chopper with it 360/30 rear wheel (that's right, 360...).

That man can built custom bikes that truly are out of this world imo, awesome lines and pretty damn innovative designs!

Below are couple of pictures of V Lux, enjoy...

Hey! This must have been the week end...I bought a Fat Boy...but I'm keeping the Kawa ZX9r for a few more month. I just want to be sure I'll get used to the Harley style of riding. My wife already is
About the Porsche collaboration, a Harley dealer here told me that it was for all engines and not only for the Hot Rod. Do you confirm that ? Anyway could you post more about that collaboration?

Here some pictures:

If so, the only thing I barely recognize would be the relative shape of the engine!!!!

Very nice, love the fatboy. Be careful on the HD coming from a sportbike. The traditional HDs like yours do not stop worth a damn! Note only one caliper on the front!! Go slow and leave lots of room between you and any vehicle you are following!!!!

My understanding is porsche was involved with just the vrod and its 60 degree motor, because it was a complete right turn from any traditional HD "evolution" 45degree motor. Does not sound as cool as trad harley though!! I will post info shortly.

Thanks,

I noticed that too. One caliper and a weight twice more important!!! I won't tell you about how carefull I'm also entering every curve... Any picture of yours?
That's a big change for me anyway:

Just to clarify. He only used the V-rod motor. That bike was completely built from scratch.

We were blocked by an accident on a german highway. Minutes before we were "cruising" at 260km/h with three other friends!!! That's where my wife prefer the Harley cruising

I'm pretty sure that Porsche also designed a watercooled V4 for Harley right before or after they got out of AMF, but it was too risky to take to market.

Still, I'd take a VROD...

I am pretty sure that Porsche helped Harley with the design of the transmission as well.
