Hey Mike!

Very nice!!!

I can see that you have a thing for flat six engines and arena red color. Plane and p-car match!

Also..how many hours does that engine has? I have never seen anything SO Clean!!!

Sergio,

Hi and thanks. You're right, I'm a sucker for air-cooled flat six engines. The A36 has about 1,750 hours total on the airframe and about 250 hours since overhaul on the engine. The engine is very dry, once in a while I get an oil drip from a pushrod tube - that's about it. The engine was rebuilt by Ultimate Engines in Mena Arkansas. Many new parts, including cylinders and a higher performance cam. Ultimate 'tricks' and balances these aircraft engines quite a bit, as much as is allowed by the FAA. The plane actually trues out about 5 knots faster than book (about 178 knots TAS) with this engine, but burns a bit more fuel than book. Guess there's no free lunch, huh?

You probably can get somewhat better performance using a different pitched prop. Is yours fixed pitch or variable? And you are right..no such thing as a free lunch..5 extra knots is going to use more gas,,,but you'll get there faster!

Uh Mike.... I am worried about you now. when I was in college I worked in an FBO for
6 years to get my 4 year engineering degree. I have been in a bazillion hangars and that is
the cleanest hangar I have EVER seen. Dude you need to see a shrink.
There are operating rooms that arent that clean.

What a difference a little paint makes. Looks awesome.
This mod got to be a top contender for "Best mods for price" competition. Yes, i read the other thread about the $70/pint paint, but still.......what can you do on a Porsche for under $70.?

Way to go.

Sergio:
The prop on the Bonanza is a constant speed (variable pitch). Redline is 2,700 RPM, normal cruise is 2,500. Fuel burn averages 17 gph.

Arrwin:
You're welcome. And Dick in TN is right, those wheels are very sharp.

OG:
Well, the hangar is actually more of a 'clubhouse' than a workshop. Funny thing is my friend and tech that does all the work on the plane is MORE obsessive than I am. Great combination. No wonder the annual inspection takes two months.

..errr.. Mike.. I think you really need to clean that aircraft engine.. That will never pass FAA inspection like that..

Hey Mike - I'm thinking of painting my grill, since my car is at the body shop for a new rear bumper at the moment. Question - did you paint the original black grill that the NA, NB 993 comes with? It doesn't seem like the paint would stick very well to that, dunno. You mentioned you bought a new grill for the paint job...why?
