Question Mileage Question

I have a 1998 Cab with 44K Miles, I bought it with 34K two years ago, and used up 1500-2000 miles bringing it back from Michigan.

My daily commute is about 70 miles R/T.

My question is, I don't a chace to really use it on the weekends because we take our truck & dog to our weekend place, but I am afraid to put alot of miles on the 911. Which in lies the dilema, do I get rid of car due to lack of use or just use it Mon-Fri and put miles on it, thus using it at least 5 days a week?

I would be curious of peoples thoughts as they put miles on their 911 and watch the value decrease. I am sure everyone is concerned with resale and their next 911

I know a great idea to half your mileage. Buy another 993 and alternate btw the two!

Doesnt sound like your car will suffer from lack of use, as you drive it 5 days a week. Your value will be better kept by great care and maintenance vs. putting some miles on her.. FWIW

Bought it to drive not take up space in the garage - that's what those other cars are for! I have added 3500 miles to the '95 93 I bought in Oct with only 19.6k miles. Values going down - smile going up.

A woman's point of view:
Use it, drive it ! The only things that should be treated like a precious jewels are WOMEN. If, you just can't drive your sports car, sell it and buy your very special mate some Jewerly!

Ouch Kita-chan. I always live with the hope that girls like the fact that I drive a 993 even though I know it's not true nearly enough.

And with this model you'll even save some space for a third one

Your 993 will depreciate if you drive it or not, it's all a matter of degree. My mut travels in the back of my 993 (Coupe I have to admit) regularly. Drive and enjoy.

Very few cars are investments. Yes, putting miles on the 993 will hurt the resell value. But not driving it will defeat the purpose of buying it. Mine is a daily driver and when I sell it I will lose money. But the memories will be well worth it. Life is short, enjoy it and the 993!!

Drive it, put the dog in back. We had a Newfoundland, 175 lbs, 28 inches at the shoulder. He would ride in the back of my 72 E Targa for about 100 miles. Didn't realy like it, but he did it and faired just fine. he minded it less with the top off.

Ron Pcar,

Life's too short, If you don't put the miles on it someone else will. You know that the car is the worst investment to have it's only going to depreciate unless you got something really rare. Plus you're doing the car a favor by driving it just keep the maintenance up to date. If you leave it sitting in the garage you're still giving it a slow death, your seals will hate you for it. Just my .02

Depreciation only matters if you intend to sell it. Drive it 'til the wheels fall off!!
