My 993 started making power steering sounds last night. It is cold in NYC, but it might be low on fluid. Where is the fluid refill for the power sterring. I cant seem to find it.
Thanks

You'll probably only be able to find Pentosin CHF 11S at the dealer and online. If your local Porsche dealer doesn't have it, try your local Audi, BMW or Saab dealer.

Either the owner's manual or workshop manual states that either Dexron ATF or Pentosin were used (depending on year/model) and that it is okay to add Pentosin to ATF but not ATF to Pentosin. There was ATF in mine previously, so I sticking with the ATF.

I believe the service manual now advises using only Pentosin CHF 11S after a certain date. Like was stated, you can add Pentosin to the existing Dexron, but does not advise doing the opposite.
I evacuated as much old fluid as possible with a turkey baster, then refilled with the Pentosin. I kept doing that in intervals until I was reasonalbly sure the larger percentage of fluid in my power steering system was the new stuff. Short of doing a flush, which I could never get any advice on how to do, this is the best method of switching out the fluid.

Fresh Dexron ATF should be red and still should have a reddish appearance when used. Fresh Pentosin CHF 11S will be green in color and turn a greenish/brownish color when used.

How about Dextron III? I have tons of that stuff, and its the same as Detron II. Also, how can you add one type of fluid to one and not the other? I mean, they both mix either way no matter what was first.
Anyway, My fluid is extremely low..
