Default Help -which center caps did I have?

Can anyone help me?

All four of my center caps have recently been stolen! When I went to the local Porsche dealer here in Hamburg Germany they said that these were not offical caps. Could they be "Tequipment". I beleive mine were metal and the ones they wanted to sell me were plastic but still VERY expensive. The dealer said they could have been made only for the North American market. (I did buy the car in Germany). I have searched all over the internet and have never found another set like mine. Sorry for the poor picture quality but I had to use photshop to zoom in on a pic and then sharpen it. As you can see the crests were bigger then the current caps and don't have a circle around them.

Your expertise is much appreciated!

Thanks -but I did check www.wheelenhancement.com. None of those match the ones I had. Can anyone tell me if my caps were original Porche items or aftermarket caps? Does anyone else have these? If you notice the 'porsche' lettering in the picture is not painted black. The guys at the dealership said that this means they were not official Porsche products.

Gert sells the large crest center caps. www.carnewal.com

As far as your caps being OEM from Porsche, check the back of the cap. There should be an imprinted Porsche Parts Number stamped on it.

Thanks but I can't check the back of mine because they were stolen. The ones Gert is selling are plastic and I think mine were metal -but now I'm not sure. I read somewhere that Porsche changed the caps from metal to plastic with for the 996 to save cost.

Does anyone recognize my caps?

Also, Ebay is a good source...

Not a dumb question at all! While the first place I checked was eBay, the Rennlist shop was new to me. These look just like mine, excpet for the black lettering. Perhaps the pattern has changed over the years. I assume these are not factory items?

Alex,

I know your caps. I think personally they were Te equipment as I have seen them on a friends car that was original from factory (he is second owner). They are very nice I must agree though they can chip....

They are here;

To prevent your next wheel centers from being stolen, might I suggest a cheaper alternative? i just bought a set of these (well, almost; the ones I ordered are dished) for about $11 each. There's a BIG difference between $44 and $200 ($156 to be exact). Plus I don't have to worry about them getting stolen.

EDIT: p.s. the part number for the $11 hubcap is 993.361.303.119a1

While I can't verify the caps, I can vouch for Ralph Boothe being a good guy. I needed some new lug nuts in a pinch and he invited me into his house to chat, check out his killer 993TT and get me a box of lug nuts. I have not met a nicer guy (his wife is really nice, too) and he is very into Porsches. I felt I got good value in dealing with him...no affiliation, etc.

I have done just what you have recommended. I went with the 12€ plastic dish ones with the black crest. It's not worth it to put another set of 200€ caps only to get stolen again. Not to mention that while the painted crests look nice they were always a little to "bling" for me.

Thanks for everyones help!
