Post Looking for pics of aftermarket wheels on 993s

I'm starting to look for aftermarket wheels, primarily for track use next spring. I plan to mount 245/35-18 tires up front and 285/30-18 in the back (Pirelli P-Zero Cs that I can drive to the track), so I'll probably go with 8.5" and 10" wheels.

Does anyone have pictures of Kinesis K58 wheels on a 993? I haven't been able to find any on the web.

How about other aftermarket wheels on 993s, to help folks trying to see what looks good? There are a lot of different styles and finishes out there, which has made the decision a bit confusing for me.

One last thing: has anyone mounted 245s on the stock 8" Technology wheels (seems a bit narrow for this size tire)? Any downsides? Thanks!

245s won't work on 8" wheels. Do not try it !!! With regards to wheels, have you looked into the 993 RS Cup wheel made by Speedline? Hank Cohn just bought a set for his 993 and they are the most beautiful wheels that I have ever seen!!!!

I beg to differ. I have used 245's on 8" stock wheels with no issues. It is not the ideal size but it works just fine.

The 245 will fit on an 8" wheel but will not be as effective as on an 8.5 or even a 9. You need to ensure that the tread is spread properly for a good footprint.

You have seen the K-58's in person but probably didn't realize it. Jerry's car has them. Check out EJ's website and look at pictures from Viper Days at VIR. I personally like the K-28's. They are light and the matte finished centers are easy to keep up. You can order other finishes though.
You can put the 245's stock 8" wheels no problem, but if you are custom ordering go with 8.5 and 10.5.

Hi Anir
I have an extra set of 18" CARGRAPHIC RACING WHEELS for 993 & 993TTs with or without Pirelli P ZERO C tires. The wheels are slightly used and are $2195 and the P ZeroC tires are $995. Let me know and they are light, easier to clean than most other wheels, 3 piece, and you can use Porcshe center caps or centerlock faux knockoffs. The tires are 245/18 and 285/18s

Erik and Greg,

Thanks for the pics! I wonder if RUF makes their 18 or 19" wheels in 8.5" width (which I agree is a better size for 245s, if available)?

Joe,

Do you have pictures of the Cargraphic wheels? Forged or cast? What are the widths? I've already got a set of brand new Pirelli P-Zero C's (paid $950), but might be interested in the wheels. At this point, I'm trying to gather pics of mounted options for the 993.

A friend in Indiana told me about a set of Dynamag magnesium wheels custom made for the 993TT, but I haven't been able to find a pic of these either.

Thanks again!

RUF makes them in 8,5" and 10" that goes for both 18" and 19".

I have more or less decided to go for the 19" Chrome Optic finish (245/35, 285/30) My brain just have to catch up with my heart on this one

Yes, the RUF 18" and 19" front wheel is 8.5" wide. However, these wheels are not lightweight. If you are looking to shed some unsprung weight, you must look elsewhere.

nor are the 19s pothole friendly. I just saw a 19 inch ruf clad 993 (possibly turbo or maybe widebody with turbo wing) in my neighbourhood - looked great but there was so little rubber I thought it was a rubberband covering the wheel. Worrisome I'd say since as much as one tries, once in a while one can get caught in a repaving zone and have bumps assuming one is really careful with potholes.

Actually, the tire sizes recommended by RUF doesn't make the wall so much thinner on 19". 86mm instead of 90mm front and the same in the rear. You have to allow slightly bigger diameter of the wheel though +4% on the rear and +2,7% in the front. According to RUF there shouldn't be any problems with the wheel fitting inside the fender.
Me thinks - RUF should know

Here are the spec:
Spec Sidewall Diam. Rev Difference
225/40-18 90 mm 637 mm 500 / km 0.0%
285/30-18 86 mm 628 mm 507 / km -1.4%
245/35-19 86 mm 654 mm 487 / km 2.7%
285/30-19 86 mm 654 mm 487 / km 2.6%

I started a thread on this issue a week ago: http://forums.rennlist.com/scripts/r...c&f=3&t=001511

This is a picture of Lee Walczak's car. I think he has the Cargraphic racing wheels. They look a lot like the BBS LM's (another wheel to consider). I think Gert sells them.

Dymag makes wheels specially built on order. I don't know how much they will charge you but my guess is - a lot!

These are aftermarket in the USA. They are the OEM Speedlines for the RS and RSCS.
