Best and worst drive home ever...
I just walked in the door from the best and worst drive I have ever had in my C4S. Coming up Highway 50, about 50 miles from Lake Tahoe (my home) I came up on a red BMW that was moving pretty good (not sure what kind, I don't know much about them and it was dark). He noticed me following and got on it as the road started getting really turny so I stayed on him.
We carved the mountain road like I do frequently solo on this road, but playing cat and mouse with another car was a blast! After a few miles we got to a passing lane, passed the cars we caught up to and then he pulled to the right for me to pass and lead for a while.
Then it got really fun. The whole time I have had my car I have only driven alone, never really knowing what this car is capable of compared to other cars. He did pretty well most of the time, but I was amazed at how solid my car was cornering and accelerating. I dusted him numerous times and waited on the straights for him to catch up and start again. This went on for close to 50 miles, right up to the turn off to my house.
It was such a rush I was actually a little jittery when I walked in the door, like I had too many cups of coffee. I have never driven on the track but I can only imagine how it must feel with other cars out there all thinking the same thing, going fast and pushing the cars. Usually I am trying to get around tourists coming up to Tahoe to play in the turns but this time I had someone to play with.
The reason it was my worst drive home ever is it made me even more sad to know that I still need to sell it. I wish I didn't have to, but I do. At least I am not in a huge rush to sell so I still have a few drives left before it's gone. The way it is going, I may have it for a long time. There doesn't seem to be anyone ready to buy, lots of people looking, but no buyer yet. There are a lot of people basing their offers solely on Blue Book value. I don't know about others, but I paid a heck of a lot more than Blue Book for this car in December, and I would hate to lose big on resale now. I will just have to wait for the right buyer and enjoy the car in the meantime.
Sorry for the long post, I just thought I would share the feeling! If you know anyone looking for a 97 C4S, here is the link to info about the car .

Jason,
Too bad you must sell that car. It is PERFECTLY equipped and optioned, and is beautiful. If the opportunity ever presents itself when you own this or another Porsche, you must take it to one of the local tracks, and try a time-trial/open-track/driver-education event. If you think you were stoked from a hiway drive... trust me, its nothing like track driving.

Jason,
I just noticed a guy on the "roadfly" board looking for a silver C4S. I think his email is eztrader 993@hotmail.com but that space in the email addr looks weird (invalid?) to me. Some body on that board told him to look at this board, but I'm not sure if he'll find his way over. Look here:

Again, good luck.

Keep your chin up Jason. You'll sell it before summers end I think. Then you'll be kicking your self for selling it.

Steve, thanks for the heads up on the Roadfly post, I just replied over there.
Yes DJ, it was Pin's car previously. Family priorities have changed and I am selling because of that.
Please contact me directly if you have any questions. I would rather not post asking price again on this forum since it usually turns into a big thread about whether the price is too high or too low, etc. Many of the people I have talked to have seen these threads and use the "Too high" posts as their guideline for how much the car should sell for. A couple potential buyers have told me they think the car is worth around $40k based on what some people have posted here. I can say that I am not selling this car for $40k, not a chance. Everyone here has their own opinion on what these cars are worth, I hope that the buyer will make up his own mind rather than base his decision on what someone here thinks it is worth.
The car is perfectly modded as many here know. I spent months looking for this exact car and someone else out there will want the same.

Jason, If someone gives you a lowball offer of $40K they are sniffing glue. I'd give you $55K for it if I were in the position.
