Post My wife has been out shopping....

and I come home the other evening. She shows me all this really cool(ack!) stuff she has purchased for our home. Myself, being very experienced, praise her on her wonderful choices and slowly move over to..So, about how much did this cost? She responds quickly without much contemplation, "About one set of race tires.."
From now on I just look, nod and smile alot!
Happy Holidays!

Been there done that. At my last race the Hoosier tire lady was so nice and brought my ticket over to where I was paddocked and gave it to my wife. Doh!

Recently I was ready to comment as well. When the clothes pole sagged in the middle, I suggested she visit a charity before she buys more. Only 4 days later the pole broke. Then I checked the credit card staements and realized that her clothing budget is about the same as my 993 tires and maintenance budget. She must know it by osmosis. Silence is golden.

Lately, at our house, every purchase my wife makes seems to be measured by some fraction or multiple of a set of slicks. In a way its funny, but you really begin to realize how desensitized to very expensive consumables we have become. We recently had a conversation where she said that the house she wants is just two Cup cars more than our current house.

If I could only get my wife infected with "track fever", the rest would be easy! Car records and Hoosiers are stored in my office under strict security.

Comparing the cost of things to a set of race tyres. That is a new one to me. I compare things to the cost of 2nd Gen. RX-7s.

Hank

Does the house she wants have room for the two Cup cars?

My "Doh!" is as follows:

My wife asked me where she should take the $4500 from for the Visa bill.

"$4500!!! What'd you buy?"

Oh I only spent $450. The rest is for your strut brace, service for the coupe, and your last Skip Barber Race."

Never saw it coming. (thank god my kids got the brains from her)

Classic! What a gas!

I just got engaged and had to spring for one of those snazzy rings. In the back of my mind I kept thinking how I could have spent the $$ on steel synchros and Guard close-ratio gears!! I know, I'm gonna burn in Hell!!

Oleg,

I've only been married a year and I had the same thoughts. Best purchase ever though (except for the 993 )

I was just curious to see if any starless low-life like myself could even post on this topic.

Maybe behind every great star rated guy is a great wife??
