ParadiseNB, actually no. I really liked my C4S. If I had a choice, I would own both and throw a GT3 in there somewhere.

I think everyone needs to gather 'round a copy of the latest Panorama, turn jointly to the classifieds, and have a good, long laugh.

Does this mean the economy is really turning around, or are 993 owners just looking to maximize their 997 down payments?

Dr No. Most likely the latter. I bet there are a lot of disappointed 997 owners. Those being ones who sold 993s to get 997s. 997s are nice, I'll probably have one some day, but they are mass produced cars. Nice units. Good rides. They are Not SPECIAL Porsches.

I agree about the 993 being a great line, and that the last model year should be the most valuable, all else being equal.
Not to hijack the thread, or make it about me, but....
My '98 S has been in the Rennlist classifieds for over 2 months, and I finally realized this is not the place to list it. Despite a reasonable price and good history, the car is still unsold, and only one prospect has seen the car in person (by proxy).
I don't have much confidence in the local newspaper, or Autotrader. I had a 15 day ad in Autotrader online.
Would anyone care to suggest a marketing plan?
Would anyone with an Ebay seller account list the car for me? I would cover expenses and field phone calls and emails, of course.
Any help would be appreciated. TIA

I would contact Dave Maynard at Europeanlocators and see if he has a buyer for it.

Jeff - your car sounds AMAZING! I just saw the ad from Rennlist and am blown away that you don't have people knocking down your door to look at and buy your car. Great price with great options. I don't get it.... Are people scared of a 98 car with 57k miles??? I don't know why.

Did you try cars.com?
That's how I sold my car quickly - my 88 911.

Good luck,
Steve

I would second that. Thought I wasn't able to consummate a deal through Dave (seller was a bit difficult) he worked his a$$ off to make it happen. He is a quality broker that I would use in future transactions.

Don, I agree with your point regarding slower depreciation but not with your point regarding the Turbo Look eventually out pricing the Turbo. Dating back to the 930, the Turbo has always had a higher value than it's comparable Turbo look brethren.

IMHO, the two cars to get (in the US) for slowest depreciation would be the 993 TTS and the 964 3.6 Turbo. Incidentally, they are my two favorites cars!

Doug, not Don.

Isn't the 1989 Speedster valued higher than an equivalenty turbo?

Besides, there is a first time for everything......

DC even it youre right there is no 97 or 98 speedsters and there were only 600 97 TT's

You can keep trying though. You sure youre not trying to sell?

FWIW the 89 speedster in my opinion is uh... well not very attractive.
AND there was almost 800 89 speedsters, only 600 97 TT's and even less today

And why would a fake something be worth more than the real thing?

A turbo look more than a real turbo??

Dave Maynard had a GWagen I was interested in. Even though I didn't buy, he answered questions I had afterwards about the model and was an overall standup dude.

OG,

Not sure how much difference there is between 600 cars and 800 cars....certainly not enough to make a difference in value. My point was that the Speedster held value better than a similar era turbo so there is a precident here.

Not sure what you mean by fake something...unless you are suggesting that the C2S is a fake-turbo...but that is a bit silly.

Bottom line is that the turbo has depreciated by at least 20% over the last three years and the C2S has not...and there must be a reason for this. You may not like my conclusion but there is some fact behind it.

Perhaps we could agree that the C2S is depreciating at a far slower pace than the other models....is there enough common ground for us to reach this conclusion together?

Just curious. How much would a 1995 C2, now a RUF BTR-2, with 104,250 miles, be worth? 75,000 miles in the NA life, and about 30,000 miles since RUF conversion in August 2000.

Body in great condition. Lots of goodies, especially the Recaro A-8 seats. Yum....
