Post Best location for V1 Remote

I've seen pics of remote displays installed in three different places:

Ashtray (does the new bigger remote fit there?)
In front of tach
Left hand corner of dash

Any other choices, opinions about these? Thanks.

Kevin,
I had the same question. I took 2 sided tape and tried every position until I found one that I liked. Then I wired the remote display after I found what worked best for me. Yea, there were ugly wires lying around for a few days, but it was worth getting it right before spending the time to figure out the wiring.

I found that anything below the steering wheel (i.e. ash tray) would not catch my attention visually. It also surprised me how many times my arms, hands, and steering wheel blocked the display in certain locations. I ended up with putting the display under the dash, between the tach and speedo. Only issue is the visible wire that runs along the tach, which does not bother me. I think putting below the tach is a great spot too.

Ill post a pic. as soon as I can figure out how to do so.

Good luck!

Glenn

I put mine on top of the steering wheel, in front of the blank spot on the tach. Its very visable to me and wires are easy to hide.

I double stick taped the remote to the "shelf" on the lower part of the dash up in front of the shift lever. It is easy to get to so I can quiet the false alarms around town. It is easy enough to see at that height. The unit is up high on the windshield.

Kevin,

That is exactly how I have mine mounted. I used double stick on the bottom of the remote and a thin piece on the back against the tach glass to avoid any vibration.

I find this location ideal.

The position that requires the least amount of head/eye movement is best. I like to keep my eyes on the road, and when that laser alarm goes off I'm glad I have my seat belt on because I nearly eject out of the car evey time, and there is enough to do in a VERY short amount of time (slow down, make sure the person behind is not going to slam into me, find the display to locate the direction and then finaly search for the bogey.
