Is this a bone-head idea?
Ok - everybody on this site loves their cars. As such, there is a constant battle raging inside each of us that goes like this....I want to drive the car/I want to keep it in pristine condition....
To that end, why don't car manufacturers make the diver and passenger seat interchangeable? In sports cars at least.... The driver gets more wear (obviously). All they would need is a plastic cover over outlet to the controls on the other side of the seat. The controls would pop out, be switched to the other side and...there you have it.
On a less whimsical note, what if I switched the seats in my C2? Is it possible for me to pull the seats, take them to an upholsterer and have him move the controls to the other side? Then patch the seat to the best of his ability with the piece he took from the other side? The patch should be good enough if done by a professional, and it would never show....
Has anybody ever switched the driver and passenger seat in their cars?

Kerry,
You've been out in the sun way to long down there in Texas. Reupholstering seats to like new condition is not rocket science and there are many good vendors for this. When the seat shows wear to the point it is annoying, just have it redone by a pro who will match the leather color and grain.

Buy those black vynil racing seat covers with enhanced textures (basket weave etc etc) and padded thigh and side supports - like we had on our first cars. Or there are those leopardskin ones if that takes your fancy. :-)

I like the idea of switching seats with someone in a 'backwards' or 'Un-American' driving country. What burns me up is the idea that the passenger seat stays so supple, so sweet, while the drivers seat takes all of the abuse and is relegated to rapid deterioration!!!!
I have looked on-line, seems like 4 out of 5 seat sets for sale are black...I need tan.
Dan, please don't send me a bill
